At MSU, we understand that student veterans have different life experiences than our traditional students coming out of high school, which is why we have many programs and resources to help you navigate the system and succeed on campus. We will partner with you every day to help create your signature experience here at MSU.
Veteran Support Center
The Travis W. Atkins Veteran Support Center is a dedicated space in recently renovated Romney Hall, right in the center of campus, with trained staff to help veteran students with just about anything. Whether it's questions about VA benefits, help figuring out which classes to take or just a place to study or catch up with friends, the center is open to all veteran students and spouses. The center is equipped with:
- Computer stations
- Tables for group or independent study
- Lounge area with cable TV
- Coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave
- Printing services

Dedicated Veteran Counselor
In partnership with the Counseling and Psychological Services office, MSU has a dedicated counselor that offers free and confidential personal counseling to veteran students.
Living Options
Many veteran students choose to live off campus in the Bozeman community. But If you are coming from base to campus, Residence Halls or Family & Graduate Housing may simplify your transition.
ASMSU Daycare Center
Adjacent to Family & Graduate Housing, the ASMSU Daycare Center provides child care and educational activities for preschoolers ages 2.5 to 6 years old. It is open to children of MSU students, staff and faculty. Please speak with our staff for more information on child care.
Veteran Mentor Program
This student-initiated program connects incoming veteran students with a peer mentor (either a veteran or spouse of a veteran) who can help them successfully navigate campus.

Re-entry Services
Veteran students are provided guidance, information and referral services. Support includes pre-advising and information about sources of community and governmental support.
Tuition Assistance:
Active Duty, Natl. Guard, Reserve
Military Tuition Assistance can save you thousands of dollars and help eligible service members achieve their education goals. Benefits cover:
- Tuition only.
- Up to $250 per credit hour with an annual maximum of $4,500.
- Tuition Assistance is first payer toward the tuition assessment.
- Tuition Assistance are limited, per student to a lifetime total of 130 undergraduate semester hours and 39 graduate semester hours.
