In MCB, students pursue areas of study that form the foundations to solve a variety of modern problems, including improving human health, preserving environmental health, exploring alternative energy and addressing climate change. Our curricula prepare students for job placement, advanced degrees or health professions, and our students routinely receive prestigious awards like Rhodes, Udall, Goldwater and more. Our faculty are renowned for their expertise in neuroscience, infectious diseases, immunology, microbiome, cellular signaling, biofilm biology, astrobiology, bioremediation and much more.
We are MSU's department for pre-medical and pre-veterinary training, home to the Montana Medical Laboratory Science Program, the WWAMI Medical Education Program and the WA-MT Regional Program in Veterinary Medicine. The department also contributes to MSU’s Centers for Biofilm Engineering and Mental Health Research and Recovery.
