Cultivating Healthy Plants Webinar Series begins September 26th!

Webinar series presented by University of Idaho Extension, Utah State University Extension, University of Nevada - Reno Extension, and Montana State University Extension.

"Soil Health for Healthy Plants" with Dr. Jed Eberly - September 26th CHP Webinar

This month, Dr. Jed Eberly, associate professor in Agronomy & Soil Microbiology at Montana State University, will be giving a webinar entitled "Soil Health for Healthy Plants."

Date: Thursday, September 26, 11 a.m. (Pacific Time)/12 noon (Mountain Time)

Description: This webinar will describe soil health indicators and strategies and challenges to improving soil health. It will also address ways in which managing soil health can improve pest management.

CEUs are available through the Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Program and the Montana Department of Agriculture - Pesticide Training Program. A few questions will be asked at the end of the webinar to receive credits.

Entomology Day 2024

Montana State University Extension presents Entomology Day! Entomology Day provides hands-on training on scouting methods for common insect pests in Montana’s croplands and kitchen gardens. Over the course of this event, we will walk you through the parts of the plant and introduce you to the common insects that feed on each part. You will learn about pests found in roots, stems, leaves and seeds. This course will teach you how to identify these insects, teach you about their life cycle, and demonstrate proper scouting methods, as well as a variety of management strategies that can be used. Additional speakers will discuss the impact of abiotic stress on plants and insects and registered insecticides.

When: October 8th, 2024

Where: Marsh Laboratory Conference Room on Montana State University’s campus

Insects: Wireworms, wheat stem sawfly, grasshoppers, alfalfa weevils, blister beetles, & more!

Speakers: Dr. David Weaver, Dr. Robert (Bob) Peterson, Dr. Cecil Tharp, Dr. Tiziana Oppedisano, Dr. Jessica Kansman, Chloe Rice, Marni Rolston, and Dr. Erika Rodbell
