Having a job while in school doesn’t just help pay the bills, it gives you valuable experience. Our Financial Coaches help you determine if you are eligible for Work Study. Our Student Employment Services and HireABobcat programs have thousands of jobs waiting for you to discover, as well as many job fairs throughou the academic year. How do I solve my on-campus housing issues?

Navigating campus housing can be a challenge. Our Success Advisors point you in the right direction to work with Residence Life on dorms, residence halls, concerns about roommates, and other issues. We also help you with questions about graduate and family housing options on campus.

How do I get help paying for college?

Tuition, books, and housing costs add up. Our Financial Coaches connect you to variety of financial aid options, including scholarships, loans, and grants such as CAT Scholarships and Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE). They also help you sign up for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may also be eligible for one of the scholarship programs unique to AYCSS.

How do I pay for food, housing, and childcare?

You may find yourself with few funds to pay for the necessities for you and your family. Our Success Advisors can guide you to resources such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), local food banks, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Head Start, and other campus and community resources. Our Financial Coaches can help you budget, plan, and save for these expenses.

How do I get an internship or study abroad?

Spending time out of the classroom is an excellent way to gain experience and determine if you are on the right path with your major. The Bobcat Mentoring program can match you with an MSU alum or business professional to allow you to form networks and relationships while still in school. Our Internship Services and Career Counselors can help you locate an internship or job shadowing opportunity, and we, along with the Office of International Programs, can help you create an international study experience.

There are countless ways to get involved at MSU. Attend Catapalooza in August to connect with your peers through any one of these hundreds of campus clubs and organizations. Consider being a part of Student Government through ASMSU and the Office of Student Engagement. Consider pledging with one of MSU’s fraternities or sororities. How do I connect with people with diverse identities?

To promote academic success through group support, advocacy, and diversity leadership, MSU offers all students the opportunity to explore and engage with multicultural and diverse peer-group organizations. This includes the American Indian Council, Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons (DISC), and oSTEM, which is dedicated to fostering leadership in LGBTQIA+ students in STEM fields. The Veteran’s Center provides support and resources to all veterans and a variety of resources are available for non-traditional and first-generation students.
