Grants
Grants are awarded on the basis of financial need, and as such do not have to be repaid. Grants are only available if you are in school for your first undergraduate degree.
The following grants are available through MSU’s Office of Financial Aid Services, all of which are awarded based on the data submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Because some grant funds are limited, it is encouraged students submit a FAFSA each year by the priority filing date of December 1st.
- Federal Pell Grant - Eligibility is determined by your FAFSA filing.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant - These grants are available to a limited number of students who show great financial need based on their FAFSA filing. Must be Pell - eligible to receive this grant.
- Baker Grant - Available to Montana residents, and based on your FAFSA filing. Early filing is encouraged for this one.
- Montana Higher Education Grant-Available to Montana residents with exceptional financial need based on FAFSA filing.
