Our arts students can’t help but be inspired by our unique and impressive natural environment. At MSU, even a parking garage can become a classroom for creative expression. Film graduates embark on exciting careers working on projects ranging from big Hollywood productions to nature documentaries. Architecture students create the structures where we live, work and play. Graphic design graduates do work for big clients such as Rossignol, Alaska Air and Starbucks. Plus, unique interdisciplinary offerings allow students to get the hands-on experience they need to transition into successful careers in creative industries.

Access and opportunity are the hallmarks of MSU’s College of Arts and Architecture.
With Schools of Music, Film and Photography, Architecture and Art plus access to state-of-the-art tools and world-renowned faculty, the college propels tomorrow’s artists, musicians and architects from a world of dreaming to a world of doing.
Unique offerings allow students to get the hands-on experience they need to transition into successful careers in creative industries.
Facts & Stats
- 10 bachelors and five masters programs from four departments: School of Architecture, School of Art, School of Film and Photography and the Department of Music.
- Shakespeare in the Parks (SIP)is known for their professional Shakespearean touring company. SIP has been performing
each summer all over Montana, Wyoming and southern Idaho since 1973. Free to the community,
donations and grants provide funding so they can continue educating students.
- 18 performing groups are available for all MSU students, including vocal, wind, string and chamber and jazz ensembles.

Creative Research Lab: focuses on applied research and creative projects that are collaborative and multidisciplinary.

Integrated Design Lab: This lab is one of five labs in the Pacific Northwest that conducts daylight and energy modeling to assist architects and engineers when designing new buildings.
