In the doctoral Industrial & Management Systems Engineering program at Montana State, candidates pursue advanced technical topics in order to design, analyze and manage solutions that can solve issues posed by businesses, nonprofit organizations or government organizations. As a part of the industrial engineering programs at Montana State, the doctoral Industrial & Management Systems Engineering program emphasizes social justice as a design approach that broadly serves society. As such, the program integrates technical depth with social awareness from a multidisciplinary point of view.
Industrial Engineering doctoral students work with award-winning researchers such as Mark Jankausi, whose work examining the relationship between vibration and flying efficiency in insects earned him a $619,000 CAREER grant from the National Science Foundation.

Additionally, most of our incoming graduate students are funded with teaching assistantships for at least their first year.
